Sweater weather is definitely here, right? That also means Fall decor trends are here too!
For a few weeks now we’ve been smelling the warm, delicious scent of fresh, pumpkin, spiced lattes but I’ll let you in on my little secret. I actually don’t like PSLs at all!
But everything else about Fall, I love! Okay, so I’m not the biggest fan of falling temperatures but I can appreciate it leads us to beautiful snow falls that make me feel like I live in a snow globe. I can live with that. And Fall fashion is always so much better than any other season. Right?
And more than anything, I appreciate every opportunity or excuse I might have to spruce up my home. Yep, I’m talking about Fall decor trends you might want to incorporate. This change in the season definitely means making some quick updates to my home to make it feel a little cozy.

You might be thinking, “What!? She changes her home decor for every season?” Well, the answer is YES, but before I lose you here, I don’t mean re-designing your whole home every 4 months.
I simply mean swapping out some small decor pieces, introducing different materials and colours, and overall just giving your space a new feel for the season. Small changes in your home decor can make you feel rejuvenated, fresh, and excited for each season.
However, before we get into the details, I do want you to keep something important in mind: we want our space to feel decorated and not cluttered. Don’t overdo any one element, like pumpkins everywhere. You want everything to look elegant and subtle, not cluttered and kitschy.
With just a few small touches here and there you can really change the overall vibe and mood of your space. So, let’s cut to the chase here. I am going to discuss our tips to prepare your home for fall, all of which are simple and affordable.
Here’s the mood board that is a good way to show off my take on Fall decor trends for 2022.

When changing up your home decor seasonally, it is important to reflect on how you want your home to feel. To me, Autumn feels warm, earthy and organic.
You’ll notice the above items give off this feel with their colour, texture and shape.
Introduce Cozy Fabrics and Warm Tones
To begin, because Autumn is the beginning of the cozy season, we want to introduce some new fabrics and materials into your space. The days of blasting the AC are behind us, so you’ll want to find some warm throw blankets and textured pillows.
Changing up throw pillows is always an easy way to update the whole look of your living room without a lot of effort.
I’ve been really into Boucle fabric lately because it makes me want to cuddle up on the couch and read a book. You’ll also notice the colours of the pillows I selected are all warm toned. The mustardy-yellow, burnt oranges and deep burgandys remind me of Autumn harvests, the falling leaves, and warm Chai tea lattes. Now that’s yumm for me.

Add Curated Decor Pieces
Next, let’s talk about decorative items that can be placed wherever you see fit. These items can go on your dining table, your fireplace mantle, your bookshelves, your coffee table and anywhere you want to sprinkle a little bit of Autumn magic!
I’ve selected a couple of beautiful, neutral vases to house some dried florals in Fall colours. Incorporating dried florals to your home in the Fall is a lovely way to bring the outside in, and bonus! A lot of florals like the ones seen above come in practically any colour. You can do dark orange, yellow, green or whatever matches your vibe. Personally I love this dark purple/red colour. It reminds me of Autumn vegetables like heirloom carrots and beets.
You’ll notice I added some candle sticks into the mix. Candles and candlestick holders are a great and affordable way to change up your home with some Fall decor. They bring a sense of warm, coziness to your space and you can change the colour of the candlestick based on the rest of your home or the current season.

I know you saw this last one coming… Pumpkins!! Nothing screams spooky season more than a couple of pumpkins added to your space. I would suggest getting a few pumpkins of different sizes to add some variation and interest to the area you are decorating.
I selected an earthy green colour for my pumpkins to create a natural and organic feel. I love painting pumpkins in different colours too. But stick to warm, earthy, organic colours. This will give your home a sophisticated, well curated look.
Changing up a few pieces of home decor can really make you feel rejuvenated and excited for the season we are in. It doesn’t have to require you to break the bank, or tear down any walls in your home.
It can be as simple as introducing new fabrics and colours, sprucing up your dining area with placemats or napkins, and adding small, seasonally related decor pieces like candle sticks or dried florals.
And there you have it! Your home is prepped for Fall. Just like that you’re up-to-date with your Fall decor trends.
