Kitchen Counter Styling Ideas For Your Home

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably wondering how you’ve accumulated, oh, about a dozen countertop appliances over the years. Right?

You know the Nespresso machine, the Juicer, the Mixer, the Toaster Oven, and the Air Frier… Can’t someone just come up with one machine that does it all already? Our countertops are begging for it. More space for pretty things please!

Anyway, let’s cut to the chase here… You want your kitchen countertops to look styled and beautiful, yet still be functional? Well, you’re in the right place.

We’ve gathered some of our favourite kitchen counter styling hacks to make it super easy for you to style that corner nook in your kitchen or the center of your island that’s looking a little bare.

And the best part? You most likely have some of these items at home already… Let’s dive in!

Potted Plants or Herbs

Adding a small plant, flowers or herbs to your kitchen is a lovely way to style your countertop (and they smell pretty nice too)! We absolutely love to bring the outdoors in as it makes us feel fresh, lively, and connected to nature.

Not only that, but you can experiment with all different kinds of shapes and sizes. What we mean is, don’t be afraid to add a large bouquet of flowers to the center of your island or even just a small pot of basil to the corner nook.

Stylish Cutting Boards

Cutting boards are not simply for chopping up your veggies. They can make fabulous décor pieces as well. Try leaning them up against your backsplash and layering a few different boards together if you have the space.

When it comes to kitchen counter styling ideas, this is one of our favourite tips.

Pretty Canisters and Decanters

Time to transfer everything in plastic packaging to cute, reusable decanters! Okay, don’t panic. You don’t have to transfer EVERYTHING, just a few items that you would find on your countertop each day.

For example, you can buy beautiful, yet affordable soap dispensers to hold your dish and hand soap. You can try displaying your different pasta noodles in clear jars or your coffee, tea, and sugar in a set of cute, colourful canisters. The possibilities are endless!

Your Favourite Fruits

This is a timeless classic. Displaying your fruit in a nice decorative bowl serves as a great centerpiece on your island or pretty much anywhere on your countertop.

You don’t need crazy, exotic fruits to make this look nice, practically anything will do… from apples to limes or a mix of it all, fruit is pretty, natural, and good to have on hand at all times.

Bonus, your display will always be changing depending on what you buy from the grocery store each week.

Helpful Cookbooks

Okay, we are guilty of buying cookbooks for pretty pictures too! But no one needs to know, right? Besides, I’m sure you meant to try out a recipe or two at some point. You just haven’t gotten around to it yet, right?

Using your cookbooks as a décor piece is an amazing way to style your kitchen countertops. In fact, this is another one of our favourite kitchen counter styling ideas. Cookbooks tend to be beautiful, so why not show them off? You can stack them in the corner or even keep one open on a cookbook stand, so that you can utilize it while it’s on display.

Beautiful Trays

Trays are a great way to group together items you wish to keep out on your counters because they are lovely to look at and can help with organization. We love the look of a wooden tray in a corner nook that houses things like salt, pepper, olive oil etc.

Cute Utensil Holders

Okay, of course there are those everyday items we need out, in arms reach, at all times! We get it! No problem. There are so many cute jars, jugs, and decanters out there that you can use to style your kitchen countertops while still keeping it functional.

Try picking up something in your favourite colour or pattern then filling it with your essential cooking utensils. I use a blue ceramic jug with tiny flowers on it. It’s a really fun, pretty piece and it’s quite big, so all my tools fit in it nicely. Function, meet beauty!

Putting it all together

The key to putting these kitchen counter styling tips into action is to layer these tips together in creating a few different zones on the countertop.

For example, you might start by leaning a couple of beautiful cutting boards against the backsplash. Choose a couple with different heights and shapes to layer on top of the other. Then place a small herb in a cute planter in front, slightly off to one side. Place a cookbook on a stand next to the plant, in front of the leaning cutting boards. Make sure all of the items vary in height, size, and shapes. Create more grouping such as this on other parts of your countertop.

There’s a fine line between styling and clutter. If you’re not sure where that is, always go with less.

While we all know the kitchen is one of the busiest spaces in the home, constantly being used, cleaned, and used again right after, there’s no reason why you can’t add some small touches of kitchen counter styling to make it beautiful as well.

These easy tricks are all you need to transform your kitchen. So go ahead, display your oranges, grab a bouquet of flowers, and get those cookbooks on display!
