5 Bedroom Decorating Ideas You Need to Know for 2022
I have always loved a good bedroom decorating idea. Why wouldn’t anyone? Our bedrooms are such a personal part of our homes.
When I move to a new home, the first space I fully furnish and decorate is always my bedroom. It’s because my bedroom is my one tranquil space in the house–my sanctuary. It’s the place where I relax and unwind, after a long day at work.
My bedroom has to look and feel beautiful and serene. It’s the last thing I see before I go to sleep and the first thing I see when I wake up.
In the last few weeks, we’ve been talking about 2022 interior decorating trends. Many of these apply to our bedrooms too. Here are 5 bedroom decorating ideas you can use to create your own beautiful, tranquil oasis at home.

Statement Headboards
Headboards are a key piece of decor in every bedroom. For 2022, statement headboards are a big trend.
One of the bedroom decorating trends we are seeing is upholstered headboards that span a full wall– from wall to wall and ceiling to the floor. Bigger the headboard, the better it is for this year. It simplifies the idea of a feature wall where the bed is usually placed. It also feels uber luxurious.
In our 2022 design trends we talked about the trend towards curvy furniture. This trend definitely extends towards headboards as well. We are seeing not just curvy but a lot of free-form asymmetrical shapes are also dominating in this space.
Unlike the shiny, neutral, velvet tufted rectangular headboards of the past, you’ll see a move towards bold, matt patterns on headboards for 2022. Think of your headboard as a piece of art.

Bold, Earthy Colours
We’ve talked about how big earthy tones are for 2022. This is also another trend that translates into many great bedroom decorating ideas. You can incorporate these beautiful colours in so many ways in a bedroom. You have walls, a headboard, bedding, throw pillows and more.
Blue and green continue to be big colours for 2022. We like blues and greens in our bedroom because they make us feel calm. What’s new is the use of earthier tones of reds like terracotta in bedrooms. It’s perfect if you’re going for a more romantic, energizing vibe for your bedroom.

Monochromatic Colour Palettes
Of course, this bedroom decorating idea had to make our list. We love a monochromatic colour palette in any room of the house. Using the various shades and tones of a particular colour will make your space look elevated and sophisticated.
We think there are some fantastic ways to combine this bedroom decorating idea with the one above. Just imagine layers and layers of warm, rich shades of brown. What could feel more like a warm hug than that? Or think about layers of warm shades of whites, ivory and off-white. If you’re going for elegant and upscale, this is it.
Want something that feels cool and refreshing? Layer different shades of blues or greens.

Sustainable Bedding
Sustainability is another one of the areas we talked about in our earlier post on 2022 trends. This trend also extends into bedroom decorating ideas–in particular in the area of bedding.
Natural, eco-friendly bedding is becoming more popular, especially with those under the age of 30. Bedding that is made of sustainable fibers like Tencel, Lyocell, and Bamboo, as well as organic and recycled material will become more available to meet the demand.

Furniture with Colour
We admit that this is a new trend that we didn’t see coming! But we love this as a fantastic bedroom decorating idea.
You can incorporate this trend by adding a nightstand, a dresser or even a headboard that is painted in a colour other than white, black or gray. Think deep shades of blue or green.
We’d love to see pieces in other colours as well. It’s a great way to add a pop of colour to a neutral bedroom.

Bonus: Clever Storage Ideas
For your bedroom to feel like a sanctuary, you’ll need to make sure clutter is kept to a minimum. That means you will need to make sure there is adequate storage for everything you need.
Think about how you will use your room. I think we are all guilty of letting clothes pile up on a bench or a chair in the bedroom at one point or another, right? Find creative storage options to help you create consistent habits to keep clutter out of your sanctuary.
Look for furniture that can do double duty if you’re in a small space. Perhaps a nightstand that can function as a laundry hamper. I actually had one of these! Another example is a bed that offers storage.
Which of these bedroom decorating ideas are on your list to try out in your bedroom?
